Resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an
agreement to provide sewer service to a home outside the City
Limits within an `Island' and other matters.
WHEREAS, a homeowner's septic system has failed and is leaking wastewater
into the yard causing an immediate health issue and annexation requires a lengthy time
interval; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has an existing sewer line within two hundred
feet of the said home; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best long -term interest of the City for this home to be
connected to the sewer system rather than a septic system; and
WHEREAS, an existing drainage ditch which flows through residential
neighborhoods within the City of Little Rock is adjacent to the septic overflow,
presenting the real possibility of untreated wastewater flowing into the City and through
this neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, by allowing immediate connection to the City sewer system would
limit hazards to the citizens of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, the current homeowner is not opposed to annexation to the City of
Little Rock and a reasonable compromise is to allow connection with annexation to
follow within a reasonable time.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Little Rock Board of Directors authorizes the City Manager to
enter into an agreement to provide sewer service prior to annexation of the home at 37
Maywood Drive subject to annexation within nine months of the connection to the Little
Rock sanitary sewer system.
