HomeMy WebLinkAbout20957 I ORDINANCE NO. 20,957 2 3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE 4 LITTLE ROCK CODE OF ORDINANCES TO CLARIFY THE 5 REQUIREMENTS FOR KEEPING A VIETNAMESE POT-BELLIED PIG 6 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, 7 ARKANSAS; TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF VIETNAMESE POT- 8 BELLIED PIGS ALLOWED IN ANY ONE (1) HOUSEHOLD; TO 9 DECLARE AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS,the City finds it desirable to clarify exceptions in Article IV of Chapter 6 of the Code of 12 Ordinances; and, 13 WHEREAS, the City Board of Directors wishes to protect the health,safety, and welfare of the City's 14 inhabitants by clarifying the distance that the lot or pen of a Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig must be from the 15 nearest residence or business and to limit the number of Pot-Bellied Pigs that may be kept in any one (1) 16 household; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 18 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 19 Section 1. The language in Section 6-41(5) of Article IV of Chapter 6 of the Little Rock Code of 20 Ordinances is hereby deleted and replaced with the following language: 21 (a) Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, subject to the provisions of§§ 6-1 through 6-8(a)and 6-43. 22 (b) It shall be unlawful for more than one (1) Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig to be kept or 23 harbored in any household or business within the corporate limits of the City of Little Rock, 24 Arkansas. 25 26 Section 2. The language in Section 6-43 of Article IV of Chapter 6 of the Little Rock Code of 27 Ordinances is hereby deleted and replaced with the following language: 28 (a) It shall be unlawful to keep cows, goats, horses, Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs, or other 29 lawfully allowed hoofed animals in a pen or lot, pasture,yard, home or building that is within 300 30 feet of any residence or business other than the residence of the livestock owner or business 31 establishment of the livestock owner. 32 Section 3. Severability. In the event any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, subparagraph, 33 item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or [Page 1 of 2] 1 unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining provisions of this 2 ordinance, as if such invalid or unconstitutional provision were not originally a part of this ordinance. 3 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with this 4 ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 5 Section 5. Emergency. The Board of Directors hereby finds that it is necessary to implement these 6 clarifications regarding the keeping of Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pigs in the City Limits to protect and 7 preserve the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of this City.
