HomeMy WebLinkAbout13950 1 RESOLUTION NO. 13,950 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK., RESOLUTION NO. 4 13,883 (MAY 6, 2014) TO INCREASE THE MAXIMUM EXPENDITURE 5 FOR THE REPAIR OF FIRE DAMAGE AT THE JIM DAILEY FITNESS 6 AND AQUATIC CENTER TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE 7 HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($380,000.00); AND 8 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS,fire damaged the Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center on April 21,2014,and work has 11 occurred since that date to repair the facility; and, 12 WHEREAS, originally it was thought that the skylight over the indoor swimming pool could be 13 repaired,but it has now been determined that the skylight is a total loss so the insurance company has agreed 14 to pay for the cost of replacing the skylight with a closed roof; and, 15 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 13,883 (May 6, 2014), only permitted a maximum 16 expenditure of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars($350,000.00)to be spent for repairs; however, 17 with the additional costs to be born for the replacement of the skylight that amount need to be raised; 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 19 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 20 Section 1. Section 1 of Little Rock, Ark., Resolution No. 13,883 (May 6, 2014) is hereby amended to 21 read as follows: 22 The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract 23 with Metro Builders and Restoration Specialists, Inc., for cleaning and restoration 24 services at the Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center, in an amount not to exceed 25 Three Hundred and Eighty Thousand Dollars($380,000.00),Twenty-Five Thousand 26 Dollars ($25,000.00) of which is the City's responsibility as the amount of the 27 deductible. 28 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, 29 or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 30 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force 31 and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part 32 of the resolution.
