A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENT OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS TO
BUDGET AND APPROPRIATE NOT LESS THAN
THE SUM OF FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($459 , 000. 00) FOR THE
YEAR 1982 TO BE USED IN DEFRAYING
THE COST OF THE PUBLIC MASS TRANSPOR-
TATION SYSTEM OWNED BY THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS ; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , for the calendar and fiscal year 1981
Pulaski County, North Little Rock, Arkansas , and Little
Rock, Arkansas , being the owners of the public mass
transportation system serving Little Rock and other
areas of Pulaski County, have each appropriated revenue
used to sustain and support the said system respectively
in the amounts of TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($278 ,000. 00) , TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($278 ,000. 00) and FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($459 , 000. 00) for a total public support of
ONE MILLION, FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1 ,015 , 000. 00) ;
and
WHEREAS , Pulaski County, the City of North Little
Rock and the City of Little Rock all recognize the continuing
need for public financial support to the said system; and
WHEREAS , the Urban Mass Transportation Administra-
tion of the United States Department of Transportation has
advised that commitments to provide public financial support
to the system in advance of legal appropriations would be
accepted by that agency allowing processing of applications
for federal funds and grant contracts prior to January 1
of the year in which funds are to be paid, thus expediting
the receipt of such funds by the operating agency; and
WHEREAS , Pulaski County, the City of North Little
Rock and the City of Little Rock desire to take every
feasible affirmative action in an effort to obtain federal
grant monies at the beginning of each year rather than
at the end of each year , thus hopefully avoiding the need
for the system to periodically borrow money for operating
purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas :
Section 1 . The City of Little Rock, Arkansas
hereby declares its intent to budget and appropriate not
less than the sum of FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($459 , 000. 00) for the year 1982 to be used in
defraying the cost of operating the public mass transporta-
tion system owned by the City of Little Rock, Arkansas and
Pulaski County, Arkansas and serving the areas of Little
Rock and other areas of Pulaski County, Arkansas .
Section 2 . This resolution shall be in full
force and effect from and after its adoption.
