6692 RESOLUTION NO . 6 , 692
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING POLICY FOR THE
LITTLE ROCK BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONCERNING
TRAVEL FOR MEETINGS ; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , it is the desire of the Board of Directors
of the City of Little Rock to establish a policy regarding
travel by members of the Board of Directors ; and
WHEREAS , it is not the intent of the Board by this
resolution to reflect on the integrity of the members of
the Board; and
WHEREAS , it is the intent of the Board to establish
a viable guideline to aid the City Manager and staff in
situations where members of the Board are required to travel ;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has a budget for
the Mayor and the Board of Directors and a major portion
of the budget is earmarked for travel expenses .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
Section 1 . The City Manager will at all times
notify the members of the Board of Directors by Pony Express
when any Board member desires to travel .
Section 2 . Members of the Board of Directors
seeking to serve on boards and committees at the expense
of the City must notify the full Board of the position, the
name of the committee and the purpose of the couuuittee on
which they wish to serve and seek approval of the Board of
Directors .
Section 3. If approval is granted by the Board
for any member to serve on a couuuittee the Director is free
to attend such committee' s meetincs at the City' s expense.
Expenses for attendance on committee meetings which are held
out of state shall only be covered for two meetings per
year. The provisions of this Section only apply to commit-
tees .
Section 4. It is hereby found that the National
League of Cities and the Arkansas Municipal League have
and do contribute towards the attainment of strong legisla-
tion which benefits the citizens of the City of Little Rock
and results in financial benefits to the City. The
Board has previously agreed that membership in the National
League of Cities is important to the City of Little Rock
in the development of national policy that directly impacts
local operations .
Section 5 . No approval by the Board shall be
required for any member of the Board of Directors to
attend any regular meeting of the National League of Cities
and the Arkansas Municipal League.
Section 6. Any travel requests by members of the
Board of Directors other than for attendance at committee
meetings and the National League of Cities and the Arkan-
sas Municipal League shall be reviewed by the full Board
of Directors .
Section 7 . It is hereby found that attendance by
members of the Board of Directors at certain organizational
and committee meetings and workshops serves to better pre-
pare the Directors and enhance their abilities to serve as
non-salaried representatives of the City. It is found that
the mutual exchange of ideas and information at such meet-
ings is beneficial to both the Directors , the individual
citizens of the City and the City as a whole .

Section 8 . This Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its adoption and approval.
