6430 RESOLUTION NO. 6 , 430.
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MISSOURI
PACIFIC RAILROAD FOR THE DONATION OF
AIR RIGHTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
THE CONVENTION CENTER.
WHEREAS , efforts to make the proposed Convention Center
a reality have been underway for nearly 10 years , involving
hundreds of individuals and numerous groups , organizations
and private firms; and
WHEREAS , the Missouri Pacific Railroad has been an
integral part of this effort from its inception; and
WHEREAS , the Missouri Pacific Railroad joined the
planning process for the removal of the Grady Manning and
Marion Hotels and cooperated to the fullest during the
demolition of the hotels; and
WHEREAS , the Missouri Pacific Railroad has granted to
the City of Little Rock the air rights over its tracks for
the construction of the new Convention Center; and
WHEREAS , the Missouri Pacific Railroad through its
cooperation and the donation of the air rights has
demonstrated its desire to be a good citizen within the
community and its commitment to the progress and growth of
the City of Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1 . That the Missouri Pacific Railroad is
hereby commended for the granting of the air rights for the
construction of the Convention Center.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors on behalf of the
citizens of Little Rock does extend its thanks to the
Missouri Pacific Railroad .
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
