BELOTE '1'Y1'E PROJECT: UN-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM FUNDING LEVEL : ; 3 ,100;17 TRAINING DATES : AUGUST 1 , 1980 - September 30? 1980 WHO ARE WE: Mechanics Lumber Company is a diversified local lumber company that has been in operation in Pulaski County since 1902. We operate a custom Millwork Division presently employing 25 persons . In early 1979 we began an expansion program in this division involving renovation of a building to house our remlachine section of the Mill . With the addi- tional space available, an additional moulder operation will be established. This operation will require two additional employees ; one skilled as an operator and set-up man and one semi-skilled as a feeder/tailer. OUR PROJECT: Due to the shortage in this area of skilled operators required by this expansion, we are planning to implement a training project . The successful completion of this program will result in the training of two persons to be a moulder operator and a helper. The program will provide "on the job training" for both jobs . The moulder operator will require 18 months to become fully trained. The feeder/railer job will require 6 months to be- come fully trained. The scheduled start date is August 1 , 1980. The trainees will be supervised and trained by our Remachine Department Foreman and Moulder Operator. The trainees will be evaluated daily as they will actually be setting up a moulder ' , and achieving some production time. IndusLry manuals and the experience of our Foreman will be used as a knowledge base, since a high percentage of our work can be of a custom design.
