13753 1 RESOLUTION NO. 13,753 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION 5 OF THE HARRISON STREET (14TH STREET TO 22ND STREET) SAFE 6 ROUTES TO SCHOOLS SIDEWALK GRANT IN COOPERATION WITH 7 THE UNIVERSITY DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION; AND 8 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS,the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) is offering 11 grants to communities to construct safe routes to schools for pedestrians; and, 12 WHEREAS, the University District Development Corporation of the University of Arkansas Little 13 Rock has prepared an application for a grant to construct sidewalks in the University neighborhood, 14 AHTD Job 061416 SRTS(2012); and, 15 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock Public Works Department will serve as sponsor for the project 16 and provide administrative and construction supervision services; and, 17 WHEREAS,a resolution in support of the project is required as a part of the grant agreement; 18 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 19 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 20 Section 1. The Board of Directors supports the Harrison Street(22nd Street to 14th Street) Safe Routes 21 to Schools Project as described in the grant application prepared by the University District Development 22 Corp. 23 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to approve contracts and agreements pertaining to 24 the grant application and agreement for the construction of new sidewalks under the Arkansas 25 Safe Routes to School Grant Program. 26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 30 resolution. 31 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with 32 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 33 Section 5. This resolution will be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
