6080 RESOLUTION NO 6,080
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PAN AMERICAN
WORLD AIRWAYS MERGER WITH NATIONAL AIRLINES;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Civil Aeronautics Board is currently reviewing a
proposal for the merger of Pan American World Airways and National
Airlines; and
WHEREAS, Pan American owns fifty percent of Falcon Jet Corporation;
and
WHEREAS, Falcon Jet in Little Rock, Arkansas is an important
industry to the growth of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, Falcon Jet employs 690 employees for a total payroll of
over 7.4 million dollars; and
WHEREAS, Falcon Jet has plans to expand their facilities in 1979
which will result in more jobs, more construction contracts, and addi-
tional contributions to the local economy; and
WHEREAS, the merger means the possibility of National Airlines
having a Little Rock service which may result in lower air fares an
international flights for Little Rock residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SEC ION 1. That the proposed merger of Pan American World Airways
with National Airlines is fully supported by the Little Rock Board of
Directors.
SECTION 2. That the Civil Aeronautics Board and the President of
the United States approve the merger as soon as possible.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
