A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NEED FOR SPECIAL
LEGISLATION FOR FUNDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF
A BRIDGE OVER THE LITTLE MAUMELLE RIVER; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has actively promoted, adopted
plans and acquired land for the purpose of the development of park-
lands and recreational facilities and has encouraged other public
agencies to likewise develop parklands and recreational facilities ,
along the banks of the Arkansas River; and
WHEREAS , the United. States Government through the Bureau of
Outdoor Recreation and the Army Corps of Engineers has assisted the
City and other public agencies in this worthwhile effort; and
WHEREAS , the joining together of these park sites (Rebsamen,
Murray, the projected River Mountain, Maumelle , Pinnacle, and the
projected Pulaski County Park) by the construction of a riverfront
parkway can further enhance this system of parks .
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . The Board of Directors is committed to the dedication
of lands for a riverfront parkway system and support the need for
special legislation that would provide funds for the construction
of a bridge over the Little Maumelle River adjacent to the Arkansas
River.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
