A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
TO REVIEW THE FEDERAL LAWSUIT OF SIMPSON VS WEEKS ,
TERRY AND PARKMAN; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, in 1975 Lt. W. E. Simpson of the Little Rock Police
Department filed a lawsuit in the United States Federal Court
against then Chief of Police, Gale F. Weeks , then Assistant Chief
John Terry, and Lt . Forrest Parkman alleging violation and depri-
vation of his civil rights; and
WHEREAS, in March 1977 the said United States Federal Court
found in favor of the Plaintiff and assessed damages against the
three named defendants; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors would request the Civil
Service Commission to review all aspects of the case in order to
determine whether any Departmental rules have been violated and
whether any disciplinary action is needed.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1 . The Board of Directors hereby directs the
Civil Service Commission to review the Federal lawsuit, Lt. W. E.
Simpson VS Gale F. Weeks, John Terry and Lt. Forrest Parkman to
determine whether any departmental rules have been violated and
whether any disciplinary action is needed, and if so, to take
whatever appropriate action is deemed necessary.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
