A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SELECTION OF AN
ARCHITECT TO DEVELOP PLANS FOR MAKING CITY
HALL MORE PHYSICALLY ACCESSIBLE TO HANDICAPPED
AND ELDERLY PERSONS; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO REVIEW THE CITY BUILDING CODES AND MAKE
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHANGES TO COMPLY WITH THE
NEEDS OF THE HANDICAPPED AND ELDERLY; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, The City of Little Rock has set aside $20 ,000 .00
of its first year ' s Community Development Block Grant funds to
plan and implement projects which would aid the elderly and the
handicapped and in connection therewith, the Staff along with
a citizen advisory committee , studied the problems of the elderly
and handicapped and made certain recommendations for the first
year activities; and
WHEREAS , the City of Little Rock would like to implement
those certain recommendations by taking certain positive steps.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to select an architect to work with the City do develop
plans for making City Hall more physically accessible to handi-
capped persons and elderly persons.
SECTION 2 . The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to implement a review of the City' s Building Codes
and make recommendations for changes to comply with the needs
of the handicapped and elderly.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
