RESOLUTION NO, 5,433
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO MAKE AND FILE APPLICATION WITH THE
BUREAU OF OUTDOOR RECREATION OF THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR FOR A GRANT
OF FUNDS TO BE USED FOR THE ACQUISITION
AND DEVELOPMENT OF PUBLIC PARK LANDS AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , the United States of America is making available to
municipalities certain matching funds for the acquisition and develop-
ment of park lands under Section 5 of the Land and Water Conservation
Fund Act of 1965 which grants are administered through the Department
of Interior, Bureau of Outdoor Recreation; and
WHEREAS , it is the desire of the City of Little Rock to
participate in the program and receive the benefits thereof in the
form of grants in aid for acquisition and development of parks and park
lands .
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of Little Rock to pur-
chase certain lands at 12th and Cleveland Streets in Little Rock, Ark-
ansas , with federal assistance.
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas is well aware and apprised of the above-mentioned project, and
that the City of Little Rock, Arkansas will provide the local portion of
the acquisition cost of the said project, and that said recreation areas
shall be dedicated and maintained perpetually as a recreation facility.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . The City Manager is hereby' authorized to make and file
application through the Arkansas Planning Commission to the Bureau of
Outdoor Recreation, U. S . Department of Interior, for assistance to
acquire lands for recreational facilities for the city as expeditiously
as possible.
SECTION 2 . The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute for and in behalf of the City of Little Rock any and all
instruments pertaining to the said application which shall be necessary
for the purposes described in this Resolution .
SECTION 3 , This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption,
