A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE
OF AN E-2382 CARD READER; RENEWING ANNUAL MAIN-
TENANCE AGREEMENT WITH VARIAN DATA MACHINES;
WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock desires to purchase a
Card Reader for use with the City 's computer system to allow
information to be entered into the "City" computer system
without interfering with operations of a Card Reader now dedi-
cated to the "Police" computer system and it is necessary that
said Card Reader be compatible with existing computer hardware;
and,
WHEREAS, the current Maintenance Agreement with Varian Data
Machines expires September 1, 1975 and said Varian Data Machines
is best qualified for the maintenance of the City' s computer
system, the Board of Directors desire to renew said Agreement.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. Varian Data Machines, of Los Angeles , California
is hereby awarded a contract for one E-2383 Card Reader for use
with the City ' s computer system at a purchase price not to exceed
$8, 855 .00 . Funds for said purchase are available in the 1975
Budget of the City of Little Rock .
SECTION 2 . Varian Data Machines of Los Angeles, California
is the only source of supply for the purchase of the Card Reader
identified in Section 1 hereof, therefore, Competitive Bidding
on said Card Reader is hereby waived.
SECTION 3. The Maintenance Agreement with Varian Data
Machines of Los Angeles, California for maintenance of the City' s
computer system is hereby renewed for one year, commencing Sep-
tember 1, 1975 at a contract price not to exceed $39 ,000 .00 .
Funds are available for said Maintenance Contract in the 1975
Budget of the City of Little Rock.

SECTION 4 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
