5349 RESOLUTION NO 5,349
A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLAN VI OF THE U. S .
CORPS OF ENGINEERS FOR FOURCHE BASIN FLOOD
CONTROL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has developed six basic
alternative plans for the development and flood protection of
the Fourche Drainage System, which plans were the subject of
a public hearing and subsequently studied by various staff
members of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, after careful review and consideration of these
plans it has been determined that Plan VI be approved for the
reasons that said Plan combines elements of structural develop-
ment, land acquisition , Flood Plain management, recreation and
preservation of historical, environmental and archaelogical
sites . While Plan VI requires the highest percentage of local
financial participation, the second highest total dollar ex-
penditure by local government and second highest in annual
maintenance, the Corps of Engineers assures the City that
there will be maximum opportunity to alter Plan VI and develop
local programs and alternatives which might include the reduc-
tion or elimination of certain plan elements , the expansion of
others and phasing and scheduling development to accomodate
local financial capacity.
NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock hereby approve Plan VI of the U. S. Corps of Engineers
for Fourche Basin Development Flood Control . A complete copy
of Plan VI is on file in the office of the Community Develop-
ment Department of the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
