A RESOLUTION CREATING THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES;
TRANSFERRING THE MANAGER RESPONSIBILITY, CONTROL AND
ACCOUNTABILITY OF VARIOUS DIVISIONS OF SERVICE; PROVIDING
FOR A DIRECTOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS,
SECTION 1. There is hereby created under the control of the City Manager
the Department of General Services into which the Manager Responsibility, Control
and Accountability for the following Divisions of Service in City Government are
transferred:
(a) Printing and Supply, Budget Account No. 13.
(b) Building Maintenance, Budget Account No. 20.
(c) City Hall operations, Budget Account No. 21.
(d) Vehicle maintenance, Budget Account No. 24.
(e) Sanitary Department, service maintenance and mechanics, and
maintenance superintendent.
(f) Parks and Recreation, servicemen and mechanics.
(g) Street Fund servicemen, mechanics and auto maintenance superintendent.
SECTION 2. Henceforth the Department of General Services shall be divided
and identified by five (5) Divisions of Service which are, namely:
(a) Division of Administration, Safety and Civil Defense.
(b) Communications Division.
(c) Building maintenance Division.
(d) General Fund vehicle maintenance Division.
(e) Street Fund general maintenance Division.
SECTION 3. The Department of General Services will utilize existing employees
now serving in the various divisions of responsiblity identified in Section 1 hereof
without specific authorization herein for additional personnel. Further, there is
hereby created the position of Director of the Department of General Services which
shall be non-civil service in status the salary for which shall be such as from
time to time may be fixed by the City Manager and approved by the Board of Directors.
SECTION 4. For the remainder of the calendar year 1973 the Budget Accounts
herein established for the various Divisions that are being consolidated into the
New Department Responsibility shall continue as now established except that the
Budget Account for the Department of Safety and Civil Defense henceforth shall be
changed from No. 37 to Account No. 22.

SECTION 5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
