A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
LABOR, FORMS AND FILL MATERIAL FOR SIDEWALKS
IN THE MODEL NEIGHBORHOOD; WAIVING COMPETITIVE
BIDDING; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , Change Order No. 1 in Model Cities Second Year Street
Improvement Contract providing for a five foot sidewalk on Barber
Street at a cost of $1 ,907 . 50 has been cancelled due to the fact that
the Contractor for said project was unwilling to assume the respon-
sibility for such sidewalk work at the consideration identified; and
WHEREAS , negotiations with Henry Nelson and Gerald Norwood,
Contractors , established that said sidewalk work at 21st and Barber
Streets and at the South End Day Care Center can be provided at a
cost not to exceed $1 ,334. 70 with Contractors furnishing labor, forms
and certain fill materials .
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Competitive bidding is hereby waived and a contract
awarded to Henry Nelson and Gerald Norwood, Contractors , to provide
the labor, forms and fill material necessary in the construction of
3 ,610 square feet of sidewalk in the Model neighborhood particularly
at 21st and Barber Streets and at the South End Day Care Center.
SECTION 2 . Upon the completion of the construction of said
sidewalks in keeping with specifications as prepared by Edward Smith
and Associates , Engineers for the Model Cities , payment therefor in
the amount not to exceed $1 ,334 . 70 is hereby authorized.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
