A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ON
THE BEHALF OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AND THE
LITTLE ROCK AUDITORIUM COMMISSION TO MAKE
APPLICATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ADMINISTRATION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR
ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS TO BE USED FOR MODERNIZINC
AND RFHABILITATING THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , pursuant to authority of Resolution #4447 of the
Board of Directors adopted September 24, 1970 the City of Little
Rock and the Little Rock Auditorium Commission have made application
to the Economic Development Administration of the Federal Government
for financial assistance to fund a project for modernizing and
rehabilitating the Municipal Auditorium which is to be used as an
integral and vital part of a planned Convention Center Complex
immediately adjacent thereto; and
WHEREAS , the application heretofore made for said grant funds
was in the amount of $1,052,000.00; and
WHEREAS , it has been determined that the cost for such planned
rehabilitation and modernization for the Auditorium will exceed
substantially the original estimate and that the application to the
Economic Development Administration for grant funds should be
increased to $1, 339, 254.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. The City Manager acting for the City of Little Rock
and the Little Rock. Auditorium Commission is hereby authorized and
directed to make the necessary application to the Economic Development
Administration of the Federal Government for an additional grant of funds
to be used for rehabilitation and modernization of the City' s
Municipal Auditorium so that the aggregated request of the City to the
Economic Development Administration will be $1, 339, 254.00.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
