A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE RETIREMENT OF E. ALDEN BOWEN, JR.
AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK AND COMMENDING SAID E. ALDEN BOWEN, JR. FOR EXCEPTIONAL
SERVICE TO THIS CITY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, E. Alden Bowen, Jr. is retiring from service as a member of the
Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, and;
WHEREAS, the said E. Alden Bowen, Jr. , has during his tenure of office
endeared himself to the Mayor and other members of this Board by continually
asking loaded questions (the answers to which he well knew) at all public
meetings, and;
WHEREAS, the said E. Alden Bowen, Jr. has mumbled his remarks at the meetings
of this Board to the consternation of the City Clerk, Reporters, and his fellow
Board Members, and;
WHEREAS, the said E. Alden Bowen, Jr. has by paraphrasing a famous remark
of the late Calvin Coolidge into the local vernacular by stating "I ain't going
to run", decided to lay down the scepter of the authority of his office, and;
WHEREAS, among his many accomplishments while serving as a Director, he caused
to be created a mini-park just across from his office window so his tired eyes
could be relieved by gazing upon the greensward and any other figures of beauty
which might be languishing thereon, and;
WHEREAS, the said E. Alden Bowen, Jr. , a renown bachelor, man about town,
world traveler, of dour countenance but not of demeanor, will soon be visiting the
continent of Africa where he may need these credentials more than he does at home.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK.
That the service of E. Alden Bowen, Jr. as a member of the Board of Directors
of the City of Little Rock is hereby acknowledged with deep appreciation by this
Board on its own behalf and on behalf of all of the people of the City of Little
Rock, and a copy of this Resolution be presented to E. Alden Bowen, Jr. as a
token of our respect, affection and appreciation.
