4468 RESOLUTION NO. 4,468
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING PUBLIC CONCERN
OVER THE VANDALISM OF THE JEWISH
SYNAGOGUE AT 8TH AND LOUISIANA STREETS ;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , while we are ever disturbed and concerned with
the amount and nature of crime against man and man ' s property,
we are also deeply concerned and disturbed with crime involving
institutions utilized by man in the worship of God; and,
WHEREAS , the burglary and destruction of property at the
Jewish Synagogue at 8th & Louisiana Streets occurring this
week can be interpreted not only as the act of a criminal but
the act of a hatefilled person or persons; and,
WHEREAS , the guilty in these offenses cannot pay the
penalty through simple deprivation of liberty but must purge
their hearts and soul of all disrespect for fellowman;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . While the law enforcement authorities continue
their efforts in bringing to justice those who burglarized the
Jewish Synagogue at 8th & Louisiana Streets this week and
brought destruction upon the premises where those members of
the said Synagogue worship God, all people are urged to rid
their hearts and minds of prejudice and hate and replace it
with compassion and respect for one another .
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
