4448 4-- t RESOLUTION NO. 4,448 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING FULLY THE HOTEL CONVENTION CENTER AND PUBLIC PARKING GARAGE CONCEPT CURRENTLY PLANNED FOR CONSTRUCTION BETWEEN THE ROBINSON AUDI- TORIUM AND THE OLD ARKANSAS STATE CAPITOL BUILDING ON MARKHAM STREET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES . WHEREAS , Private enterprise, together with various Governmental entities and nonprofit organizations in a concerted effort have planned and designed Hotel-Convention Center and Public Parking Garage facilities complimented with a public plaza, North of Markham Street and between the Robinson Auditorium and the Old Arkansas State Capitol Building; and WHEREAS , in conjunction with the aforesaid facilities, the Arkansas Bar Association plans the erection of a structure to house its state offices; and WHEREAS, The Board of Directors recognizing the critical need in this City for such facilities enthusiastically endorses the concept fully and hereby recommends and encourages all persons, entities and organizations interested and involved to proceed expeditiously and concurrently with finalization of plans and commitments to the end that this complex project can be a reality at the very earliest possible date, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS . SECTION 1. The City Government hereby endorses and is committed to use all available talent, energies and authority, without additional taxes, in making possible the construction of a Hotel-Convention and Public Parking Garage complex together with a public plaza to be situated North of Markham street between the Robinson Auditorium and the Old State Capitol Building and South of La Harpe Boulevard. SECTION 2. The ownership of the Camelot Hotel Chain, the Little Rock Auditorium Commission, Little Rock. Municipal Parking Authority, Arkansas Bar Association and the Little Rock Housing Authority are requested and encouraged to proceed immediately concurrently and as r -2- expeditiously as possible in finalizing such plans as each may be res- ponsible for and made commitments where necessary to assure the completion of this project without further delay.
