A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY AND THE LITTLE ROCK AUDITOR-
IUM COMMISSION TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERN-
MENT FOR A FINANCIAL GRANT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , the planned construction of a new Hotel-Convention
Center and Public Parking Garage Complex North of Markham Street and
between the Little Rock Municipal Auditorium and the Old State Capital
of necessity contemplates utilizing the said Auditorium facilities as
a part of and in conjunction with the new Hotel and Convention facil-
ities project; and
WHEREAS to serve its purpose as a part of the planned Hotel-
Convention Center Project the said Auditorium necessarily must be re-
habilitated at a cost of more than $1 ,000 , 000 . 00 ; and
WHEREAS it is recognized that the planned project will provide
new and additional permanent employment in this City thus contributing
appreciably to an improved economy; and
WHEREAS the Economic Development Administration of the Federal
Government was created and funded purposely to provide financial assis-
tance in making possible projects as here planned, creating new employ-
ment and improving the economy.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The City Manager acting for the City of Little Rock
and Little Rock Auditorium Commission is hereby authorized and directed
to make the necessary application to the Economic Development Adminis-
tration of the Federal Government for a grant of funds to be used in
rehabilitating the City' s Municipal Auditorium.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
