A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE BUILDING TRADE
UNIONS AND THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EMPLOYERS
OF LITTLE ROCK TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT
DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT OF MINORITY
PERSONS IN THE BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION
INDUSTRY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the building trade unions and construction industry
employers of Little Rock, Arkansas have been deliberating a proposed
agreement whereby plans would be promoted and implemented designed to
assure the opportunity of minority persons to employment in the skilled
trades of the building and construction industry; and
WHEREAS , the construction programs in Model Cities area in the City
of Little Rock cannot be approved and/or commenced except and until the
agreement referred to above is executed by and between the proposed
parties.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
SECTION 1. The building trade unions and the construction industry
employers of Little Rock and such other entities as may properly be a
party thereto are hereby encouraged to execute an agreement designed to
make employment available to minority persons in the skilled trades in
the building and trade industry in this community and more particularly
in the Model Cities area of the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. The City of Little Rock encourages the parties referred
to in Section 1 to proceed as expeditiously as possible and would hereby
want to be of service in the subject matter where needed.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force from and after
its adoption.
