4381 RESOLUTION NO. 4,381
A RESOLUTION OF RECOGNITION AND
COMMENDATION TO CURTIS WOODS
WHEREAS , the people of Little Rock for more than one-third of the
20th Century have been in good hands (garbage-wise) under the direction
of that affable and lovable character, Mr. Curtis Woods; and
WHEREAS , Curtis Woods commenced his association as a public servant
with the City of Little Rock on May 1, 1935, a time when the Buffalo
nickel purchased five cents worth of goods, and continued to serve until
his retirement as Director of the Department of Sanitation on February 20,
1970, a time when that same five cent piece is not only mostly extinct
but has less purchasing power than a Wilkie Button; and
WHEREAS , under the direction of Mr. Woods employing initiative,
imagination and dedication the matter of collection and disposal of waste
became, as we know it today, most efficient and effective; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Directors by this Resolution would recognize
and commend the said Curtis Woods for more than his contribution as a
public servant but also for sharing with us who have known him a life
dedicated to purpose and concern for his fellow man.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. Curtis Woods, "Mr. Sanitation" in the City of Little
Rock, is hereby commended and recognized for his life of service to the
people of this Community.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
