4341 RESOLUTION NO. 4,341 A RESOLUTION PUBLICLY RECOGNIZING AND COMMEND- ING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, POLICE DEPARTMENT, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF SAID DEPARTMENTS FOR THEIR COMBINED EFFORTS IN ANSWERING AN EMERGENCY CALL RESULTING FROM A CAVE-IN AND RESCUING THE TRAPPED MAN; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES . WHEREAS, on or about 11 : 00 A.M. , February 24 , 1970 , the Fire Department received a call that a ditch had caved in at 7007 East Wakefield Drive, penning a man in said ditch, and WHEREAS , personnel from the Fire Department responded immediately to the emergency with the assistance of the Police Department and the Public Works Department, and WHEREAS, the action and cooperation between these various departments resulted in the safe and speedy rescue of the trapped man. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. For their action in saving the life of a citizen of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , and exhibiting a conscientious sense of duty, the following named individuals and their departments are hereby publicly recognized and commended: Fire Department: Engine Company Nos . 11 and 17 , Captain Jacky Womack, Fire Fighter J. P . Ward, Captain L. V. Nordman, Fire Fighter D. W. Adcock, Fire Fighter Kenneth W. Clifton, Fire Fighter M. E . McBee, Fire Fighter T. L. Porter. Those individuals in the Police Department under the direction of shift commander Leo Harris. Public Works Department; Carl Lorie, Street Maintenance Supt. ; John Manson, Foreman II; Harry Magar, Equipment Operator V; Elmer Baker, Laborer; Leroy Teasley, Laborer; Aarion Thornton, Laborer.
