A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PHASE OUT ALL
EXISTING DIRECT LINES OR CONNECTIONS FOR
BURGLAR ALARM SYSTEMS TO THE TERMINAL AT
THE POLICE AND COURTS BUILDING; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the terminal at the Police and Courts Building for
connections or direct lines to individual burglar alarms has become
filled and no new connections can be made without a substantial expense
to the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS , the existing connections are obsolete in the sense that
they malfunction and cause the Police Department to answer numerous
false alarms; and
WHEREAS, it is found and determined that private enterprise can
perform substantially better job in the area of burglar alarm systems.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . No new connections to the terminal at the Police
and Courts Building for the purpose of providing a direct line to any
burglar alarm system shall be allowed and those existing connections
or direct lines shall be phased out of the Police and Courts Building
as rapidly as possible within the next 90 days .
SECTION 2 . Nothing herein shall affect those direct lines or
connections between the Police and Courts Building and any financial
institution served by the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 3 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
