4294 RESOLUTION NO. 4,294 A RESOLUTION GRANTING TO MATT BOWEN DISABILITY RETIREMENT BENEFITS UNDER SECTION 2-24 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES . WHEREAS, Matt Bowen was employed by the City of Little Rock on August 4, 1959, and was continuously employed until October 7 , 1969, at which time Mr. Bowen retired due to a physical disability and was found to be entitled to disability retirement benefits comprising a term of 10 years , 2 months and 3 days; and WHEREAS, under Section 2-24 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Little Rock, it is the policy of the Board of Directors to continue to pay disabled employees at the rate of pay on the date of retirement and in this case for a period of 10 months and 5 days commencing October 7, 1969 ; subject, however, to deductions from said monthly pay equal to the aggregate of sums hereinafter received by Matt Bowen or to which he would be entitled provided he filed proper application under the non-uniformed employment plan with Mutual of New York, together with such funds as shall be received hereafter monthly by said Matt Bowen or that which he would receive had proper application been filed, if any, as disability benefits under the Social Security Administration Program of the United States of America. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. The City Manager and Director of Finance are hereby authorized and directed to continue the salary established for Matt Bowen as of October 7 , 1969, and to pay same monthly in the nature of disability retirement benefits beginning October 7, 1969, for a period of 10 months, 5 days. Provided, however, the monthly benefits herein authorized shall be reduced by the amount that the said Matt Bowen receives or would receive had application been made monthly as benefits for non-uniformed employees authorized under contract with Mutual of New York; and provided further that six months from the date of said retirement said benefits will be • . J� -2- reduced additionally by the amount of benefits received or which would be received had application been made from the Social Security Administration of the Federal Government. SECTION 2. Matt Bowen shall be required to make available to the City Manager an accounting of all monies received from Mutual of New York under the city ' s non-uniformed benefits plan and from the Social Security Administration of the Federal Government.
