3717 RESOLUTION NO. 3,717
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PRESIDENT OF THE
UNITED STATES FOR HIS PROPOSAL TO CONGRESS OF
A "SAFE STREETS AND CRIME CONTROL ACT" ; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, President Lyndon B. Johnson has proposed to
Congress a "Safe Streets and Crime Control Act" to, in his words,
"treat ancient evils and to insure the public safety" ; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors concurs wholeheartedly
with President Lyndon B. Johnson' s message wherein he states,
"We can control crime if we will. We must act promptly, now, to
treat ancient evils and to insure the public safety. It is the
American citizens who will determine finally whether streets will
be safe to walk, whether property rights will be respected, whether
integrity and honest dealing will govern relationships among men" ;
and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Directors
to officially make known its concurrence with the proposal of the
President pertaining to such matters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, hereby concurs with and commends resident Lyndon B.
Johnson in his proposal to Congress of a "Safe Streets and Crime
Control Act".
SECTION 2. The Mayor of this City is authorized for
and on behalf of the Board of Directors to forward a certified
copy of this Resolution to the Office of the President.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
