3311 RESOLUTION NO. 3,311 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR ITS CURRENT FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTION PRO GRAM; ENCOURAGING CONTINUANCE OF SAID PROGRAM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, in January of 1964, the Little Rock Fire Depart- ment undertook to train personnel for inspection of structures within the areas of the respective fire companies and, in June of 1964, did undertake to make informal inspections of all major structures within each fire company area; and WHEREAS the purpose of said inspections was to familiarize the personnel of each fire company with the condition of the respective structures , the design of same and the areas within the said structures which constitute factors pertaining to fire prevention; and WHEREAS, informal inspections by the personnel of the respective fire companies were followed by formal inspections leading to reports to the Fire Prevention Bureau and other interested agencies of the condition of the said structures, thereby encouraging voluntary correction of deficiencies within same and also providing a basis for simulated fire-fighting with respect to many of said structures , thereby improving the potential efficiency of the Little Rock Fire Department in all areas of the City; and WHEREAS the effect of said program has been to increase awareness of fire prevention among the respective owners and users of structures within the City of Little Rock and to increase the efficiency of the Little Rock Fire Department ; and WHEREAS it is desirable that this program continue in its present form with all potential benefits and extensions thereof taken of full advantage; -2- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Little Rock Fire Department, together with its officers and personnel, is hereby commended for undertaking such a project as the Fire Prevention Inspection Program and is commended for its excellent management of said program toward the end of increasing public awareness of fire prevention and of increasing the fire-prevention and fire-fighting potential of the Little Rock Fire Department. SECTION 2. The Little Rock Fire Department is encouraged to continue the said program and to expand its effort into all possible areas of fire prevention to the benefit of the City of Little Rock.
