A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE MATTER OF
SIDEWALKS ; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the need for and value of sidewalks in this
City, particularly around and near schools, is recognized
by everyone; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock School District has committed
itself to construct sidewalks on school property where feas-
ible and practical which is in keeping with the declared
policy of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, The City Government is without taxing authority
or sufficient available funds to undertake a program of this
magnitude; and
WHEREAS , the owners of property around and near schools,
by improvement district means, can provide sidewalks thus
affording safe foot travel for school children and appreciate
the value of their property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The City of Little Rock hereby encourages the
owners of property around and near schools to construct side-
walks where feasible and practical.
SECTION 2. The City of Little Rock will cooperate in the
formation of improvement districts for the purposes herein
mentioned by offering such professional services as may be
needed.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in force and effect
from and after its adoption.
