A RESOLUTION IN MEMORIUM OF GENERAL DOUGLAS MacARTHUR;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS, General Douglas MacArthur was brought into this life
at Little Rock, Arkansas, on January 26, 1880; and
WHEREAS, General Douglas MacArthur departed this life on April
5 , 1964, at the age of eighty-four years; and
WHEREAS, the life and career of General Douglas MacArthur is
one of the finer examples of dedication to duty and of human accomplish-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Little Rock, together with the citizens
of all of these United States, for whom General MacArthur dedicated his
life and talents, mourn his passing and commit his memory to a place
among the greatest of Americans;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
That the loss of General Douglas MacArthur as a living American
is a loss to the City of Little Rock, as it is likewise to all of America;
That General Douglas MacArthur, and his brilliant and colorful
career in the public service, will live on in the minds and hearts of
all Americans as one of the truly great patriots and dedicated men of
all times;
That the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is proud to claim that
it has some part, however little, in the life of this great man .
