3140 RESOLUTION NO. 3, 140 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS SCHOOL OF NURSING TO PROVIDE FOR NURSE TRAINEES IN THE CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Health Department of the City of Little Rock desires additional help and assistance by nurse trainees in connection with its public health functions ; and WHEREAS, the University of Arkansas School of Nursing desires to place nurse trainees in the service of the City of Little Rock to assist in its health program and provide training for said nurse trainees; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and di- rected to execute for and in behalf of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, a certain Memorandum Agreement with the University of Arkansas School of Nursing, which Agreement is set forth in Section 2 hereof. SECTION 2. The Memorandum Agreement, authorized in Section 1 hereof, shall be in form and words as follows : MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT Establishing A Plan for Nursing Student Field Experience To Be Conducted by The UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS SCHOOL OF NURSING In Cooperation with the LITTLE ROCK HEALTH DEPARTMENT 1 . Character: The educational program to be carried on under this agreement shall be maintained cooperatively by the parties hereto for the purpose and in manner hereinafter prescribed. 2 . Parties : This agreement is made by and between the University of Arkansas School of Nursing, Little Rock, Arkansas, hereinafter called "School of Nursing" and the Little Rock Health Department , Little Rock, Arkansas , hereinafter called "Department" . 3 . Purpose; The general purpose of this agreement is to provide an educational experience in public health nursing to senior students at the University of Arkansas School of Nursing by making available for the training contemplated the facilities of the Department ' s Public Health Nursing Division . 4. Responsibilities of the University a. The School will assume full responsibility for the direction of its educational program through the members of its faculty who accompany the students . b . The School of Nursing faculty will assign case loads and clinics in cooperation with the Director of the Department ' s Division of Public Health Nursing. c. The School of Nursing faculty will plan student assignments in consultation with the nurses employed by the Department . d. The School of Nursing faculty will be responsible for the quality MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT - Page Two of care provided by its students. e. The School assumes responsibility for providing a health ser- vice program for its students . Responsibilities of the Department a. The Department will provide orientation for designated members of the University ' s School of Nursing faculty. b. The Department will assist the School ' s faculty in orienting nursing students to the Department . c. The Department will accept full responsibility for providing nursing services in support of its program. d. The Department will assume the responsibility for clearing chan- nels of administration as necessary in order to facilitate the utilization of supplies and records . 5 . Mutual Responsibilities of the School and the Department a. The School and the Department ' s Public Health Nursing Division will determine by mutual agreement the maximum number of senior nursing students to be assigned to given health centers each year and dates for such assignments . b. The School and the Department agree that meetings between repre- sentatives of the University ' s School of Nursing and representa- tives of the Department will be held for the purpose of evaluating the operation and effectiveness of the cooperative plan established by this memorandum agreement . 6. Duration. This agreement shall be in effect as of , 196_-_, for a two-year period ending , 196 , and shall thereafter be deemed to be automatically renewed for another year be- ginning each year on , unless written notice of termination MEMORANDUM AGREEMENT - Page Three is given by either party of least ninety days in advance of a starting date.
