3131 RESOLUTION NO. 3,131
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN PORTABLE
F.M. TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER UNITS FOR CIVIL DEFENSE USE
WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS, bids for portable F.M. Transmitter and Receiver Units
for use in area civil defense within the greater Little Rock area,
were taken and received; and
WHEREAS , the Motorola units were the only units bid which met the
specifications established in the instructions to bidders but that an
alternate bid of General Electric equipment, though not meeting the
specifications and bid at a lesser price can be useful for the purposes
of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, one-half of the cost of all units on which bids were
taken will be ultimately paid by the United States Government through
its civil defense program; and
WHEREAS , some of said units will be let to use by local private
transportation and communication entities though ownership shall remain
in the City of Little Rock;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The bids of General Electric and Motorola for eleven
(11) portable F.M. Transmitter and Receiver Units are hereby accepted
as being the lowest responsible and responsive bids for the equipment
specified as follows :

SECTION 2. The City Manager and Director of Finance are hereby
authorized and directed to issue the appropriate warrant or warrants
in payment of the eleven (11) portable F.M. Transmitter and Receiver

Units to the respective bidders and to immediately effect such measures
as are necessary to recover the contribution of the United States
Government in connection therewith and to recover from the private
recipients of any of said units the remaining balance of the purchase
price.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
