3073 RESOLUTION NO. 3,073 A RESOLUTION IN MEMORIAM OF THE LATE DAVID D. TERRY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, inasmuch as the late David D. Terry devoted a major por- tion of his life to the effective development of the Arkansas River for navigational and other purposes at congressional, state and local levels; and WHEREAS, as U.S. Representative from Arkansas ' Fifth Congressional District, he pioneered in sponsoring appropriate legislation through the Congress of the United States ; and WHEREAS, this effort started when this vast project was but yet a dream to even the most visionary; and WHEREAS, he continued to devote his whole-hearted and full attention to these matters while Director of the Water Resources and Soil Conserva- tion Division of the Arkansas Resources and Development Commission; and WHEREAS, his effective labors began to attract others of every poli- tical persuasion and business leaders who came to know the importance and potential of Arkansas River development; and WHEREAS, the late David D. Terry, even as a private citizen, lent his experienced leadership, vast knowledge and willingness to serve in any capacity to assure successful culmination of this great project now materializing before the eyes of the nation and especially to citizens of Arkansas and Oklahoma; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the late David D. Terry be publicly memorialized. SECTION 2. That a major structure being developed along the Arkansas River be named for the late David D. Terry to assure permanent recognition of his efforts to serve the people of his region and the nation. SECTION 3 . This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
