3055 RESOLUTION NO. 3,055
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTEREST AND DESIRE OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK IN AN ADDITION TO THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM
AS PROPOSED; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS, the proposed Interstate Highway System of limited
access thoroughfares as established by the Bureau of Public Roads
of the United States of America has been published and distributed;
and
WHEREAS, within the Mid-South portion of the United States the
proposed interstate highway system is felt by many to be inadequate
to best serve the purposes of the people residing therein and travel-
ling through the Mid-South; and
WHEREAS, an addition to the now designated interstate system
has been proposed, which addition would tend to enhance the passage
of traffic through several Mid-South States;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY O ' LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The interest, assistance and cooperation of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas , is hereby pledged to the end of securing
as an additional part of the established Interstate Highway System
a proposed Highway to be designated Highway 40-S, which highway
shall have its beginning point at Little Rock, Arkansas, and shall
run thence through Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Lake Village, Arkansas,
Greenville, Mississippi, Columbus, Mississippi, and terminate at
Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at its juncture with Interstate Highway No. 59 .
SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption .
