RESOLUTION NO. 3,006
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE ARKANSAS HISTORY COMMISSION
CONSIDER THE LITTLE ROCK MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY AND ANTIQUI-
TIES AS THE RECIPIENT OF ARTICLES AND COLLECTIONS NOW IN ITS
POSSESSION IN THE EVENT OF DISSOLUTION OF ITS MUSEUM; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS, by law, the Arkansas History Conuuission is now authorized
at its election to dissolve the museum maintained by it which may create
the necessity of disposing of articles and collections now in its pos-
session; and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas History Commission if it so elects to dis-
solve its museum is interested in the future care and maintenance of
the articles and collections now in its possession; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Museum of Natural History and Antiquities
is maintained by the City of Little Rock in a suitable location, with
adequate space and facilities for most, if not all, of the articles
and collections now in the possession of the Arkansas History Conuuission;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is extremely interested in further
developing its Museum of Natural History and Antiquities so that same
will be a source of tourist attraction to this City and State, and so
that the citizens of this City and State will have a centrally avail-
able museum; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of this desire the City of- Little Rock has
expended in excess of Ninety Two Thousand Two Hundred Six and 80/100
Dollars ($92,206.80) since 1960 directly toward increasing its capabili-
ties in maintaining an exceptional museum and has procured competent
trained personnel for such purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is believed to be in the best interest of the State
of Arkansas and its citizens to increase the articles and collections
available at one location in the City of Little Rock under competent
curators and trained personnel;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BO-4D OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. In the event that the Arkansas History Commission
should determine it to be in the best interest of the said Commission
to dissolve the museum now maintained by it, the City of Little :Zook
does hereby solicit all consideration for the transfer of possession
and ownership where possiblerof the articles and collections now
maintained by the Arkansas History Commission to be and become a
part of the Little Rock Museum of Natural History and Antiquities .
SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
