A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE METROPOLITAN AREA PLANNING COMMISSION
TO SUBMIT TO THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT A PROPOSAL FOR
DESIGNATING WEST EIGHTH STREET FROM HAYES STREET TO BROADWAY IN
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AS STATE HIGHWAY NO. 5.
WHEREAS, the Arkansas State Highway Department has designated
the old Hot Springs Highway as State Highway No. 5 to the City Limits of
Little Rock, and there remains a gap in State Highway No. 5 from the City
Limits of Little Rock to the City of North Little Rock, and
WHEREAS, West Eighth Street from Hayes Street to Broadway in
Little Rock would be an ideal traffic-way to form a link on State Highway
No. 5 between Little Rock and North Little Rock; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of Little Rock, Arkansas
request the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission to make a complete study
of the proposed traffic-way on West Eighth Street from Hayes Street to
Broadway and the approximate expenditures of monies involved; and be it
further
RESOLVED, that the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission be
requested to present the complete plan of the proposed link in State
Highway No. 5 to the Arkansas State Highway Commission for its considera-
tion and projection in its overall State Highway Construction Program.
