2104 RESOLUTION NO. 2104 A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE COOPERATION OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK IN THE FURTHERANCE OF PROPOSED INTERSTATE ROUTES OF U. S. HIGHWAYS 65, 67, AND 70 THROUGH THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AND NORTH LITTLE ROCK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has been requested to cooperate with the State Highway Department in the construction of a proposed interstate route of U. S. Highways 65, 67, and 70 through the Cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock from a point of inter- change near the south city limits of the City of Little Rock to the proposed interchange near the north city limits of North Little Rock, a distance of approximately 5.2 miles; and WHEREAS, the State Highway Department has been requested to acquire all right-of-way free of obstruction at a cost to the State not to exceed the amount of the State ' s appraisal; and WHEREAS, the appropriation and acquisition are to be made by qualified persons or firms selected by the State in coordination with the Mayors of Little Rock and North Little Rock and the County Judge of Pulaski County; and WHEREAS, the construction costs of services involved in right-of-way appraisals and acquisition will be borne by the State; and WHEREAS, the Cities of Little Rock, North Little Rock and Pulaski County will assume the responsibility for adjustment of all utility lines required by the construction; and WHEREAS, the acceptance of the provisions of an order of the State Highway Commission are to be accepted within 90 days; and WHEREAS, a resolution adopted by a group of business men representing various civic groups is hereby accepted and made a part of this resolution, to-wit : . —2— -.4 ' 4.. `c A RESOLUTION TO RECOMMEND TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL CF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK CONCERNING THE THIRD BRIDGE AND EXPRESSWAY. WHEREAS, in view of the importance and the benefits which will accrue to the City of Little Rock and the entire Metropolitan Area as a result of the construction of the third bridge and connecting expressways; and WHEREAS, it now appears that such construction may be realized with the passage tit- of the new Federal Highway Bill and contingent; upon the acceptance of certain obligations by the city as promulgated by the State Highway Commission,. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE FOLLOWING CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS,That the Mayor and City Council of the City of Little Rock accept the proposal of the State Highway Commission in its Minute Order No. 1381 of April 4, 1956, and signed by Herbert Eldridge, Director of Highways, AND, be it further resolved, that these sazn.e groups go on record as pledging their support to the Mayor and City Council of Little Rock by assisting with what- ! ever financial support, whether public or private in nature, which may become necessary to the successful completion of this program. In a Special Meeting duly called for the purpose of acting upon a resolution for the purposes herein stated that the Mayor is hereby directed to cooperate with the State Highway Commission and the City Council hereby resolves that they are willing to cooperate and appropriate sufficient funds to fulfill the obligation placed upon the City of Little Rock in accordance with the order of the Highway Commission dated April 4, 1956 and as recommended by the Bureau of Public Roads for the completion of the interchange and interstate route of U. S. Highways 65, 67 and 70 through the City of Little Rock, Arkansas.
