2103 �+t 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2103 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A HOUSING CODE COMMITTEE FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK , ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, a report to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Little Rock, known as "A. Survey of Local Codes Relating to Decent, Safe and Sanitary Housing Conditions Within the City - Their Administration, Enforcement and Effectiveness" was presented on February 26, 1954. This report was submitted for the purpose of preventing the development of poor housing conditions and other factors leading to slum and blighted conditions; to supplement existing slum clearance programs and to provide a firm foundation of effective municipal action, and WHEREAS, a recent unanimous decision of the Supreme Court of the State of Arkansas outlined the responsibilities and authority of cities to regulate housing, and WHEREAS, numerous citizens , representing various organizations, have been actively engaged in preparing a proposed housing code, said Housing Code Committee not having been officially recognized heretofore, and WHEREAS, the Women 's Chamber of Commerce of Greater Little Rock realizing the urgent need for a housing code, requests the official establishment of such a committee to draft a proposed code for consideration by the City Council, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION 1. There is hereby established a Housing Code Committee for the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , said committee being appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council, said terms of office to coincide with the term of the Mayor .
