A RESOLUTION INSTRUCTING THE MAYOR TO ISSUE A DIRECTIVE
20 THE CI`_CY ENGINE ER TO PROCEED WITH WORK ON THE BLAKEMORE
DITCH TO REMEDY DRAINAGE CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTHWEST SECTION
OF THE CITY AS PREVIOUSLY REQUESTED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS
COIThiITTEE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Residents living in the vicinity of the Blake-
more ditch, situated in the 4th Ward of the City of Little Rock,
appeared before the Public Works Committee of the City Council, and
pointed out the damage created by overflow of the ditch, and re-
quested that the Public Works Department take steps to correct
drainage problems on the Blakemore ditch; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Committee issued a work order
and requested the City Engineer to take immediate steps to correct
conditions existing on the Blakemore Ditch; and
WHEREAS, Residents along the Blakemore ditch have com-
plained that the work order requested by the Public Works Committee
has not bee n carried out by the City Engineer; THERR ORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, in regular session, duly assembled, respectfully
instructs the 'iioyor of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , to imme-
diately issue a directive to the City Engineer to be-in work on
the Blakemore ditch, i. e. , to straighten said ditch where necessary;
remove weeds and other unsightly debris along ditch; dredge ditch
from Fourche creek north to West 18th Street; to build up West bank
of ditch to prevent undermining of the concrete pavement entering
Oakhurst Addition, and to request the State H ighway Commission
to enlarge or build another waterway to permit more rapid run-off
of water from Blakemore ditch under Roosevelt Road.
