A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE BOARD OF WATER WORKS COM-
MISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO MAKE AN
INVESTIGATION AND REPORT THE FEASIBILITY OF A TWO
WEEKS' SUPPLY OF WATER WITHIN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY
OF LITTLE ROCK IN THE RAISING OF TEE HEIGHT OF THE
SPILLWAY AT LCuKE WINONA IN ORDER THAT AMPLE, WHOLE-
SOME WATER BE AVAILABLE TO THE CITIZENS OF LITTLE
ROCK AT ALL TIMES IN THE FUTURE, AND FOR OTHER ER PUR-
P OSES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Little Rock and
the members thereof being the duly elected representatives of
the citizens of the City of Little Rock and thereby feel
responsible to furnish adequate, pure, wholesome water to the
citizens of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, there appears to be a need for increased storage
capacity of water suitable to sustain the community for a
period of two weeks in order that it not be necessary to use
river water; and
WF ?TrAS, the increase in demand for water is such that
additional water supply will be necessary in the immediate
future; and
WHEREAS, Lake Winona was constructed in such a manner as
to enable the City of Little Rock to raise the height of the
spillway in order that additional supply of water might be ob-
tained; and
WHEREAS , the development of South Fourche La Fave or
Cedar Mountain Reservoir is apparently feasible in the future;
and
WHEREAS, considerable time, effort, and ability have been
spent by the City Council in the investigation of the feasi-
bility of the project for the supply of adequate, wholesome
water ; and
WHEREAS, the Nimrod project also appears feasible as a
source of supply for wholesome water ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :

SECTION 1. That the Board of Water Works Commissioners
of the City of Little Rock is hereby directed to make an in-
vestigation of the feasibility and the advisability of con-
structing a dare and reservoir sufficient for a fourteen days 1
supply of wholesome water within the immediate and adjacent
areas to Little Rock, and the practicability of raising the
height of the spillway at Lake Winona in order that these two
projects may be placed in operation as soon as possible .
SECTION 2. The Board of Water Works Commissioners of the
City of Little Rock is further requested and directed to make
an investigation of the feasibility of the construction of a
lake on South Fourche La Pave and Nimrod areas as a source of
a permanent supply of wholesome water for the City of Little
Rock and the citizens thereof.
SECTION 3 . The Board of Water Yorks Co missioners of the
City of Little Rock is requested to report the result of their
findings to the City Council of the City of Little Rock at the
earliest practical date.
SECTION . That this Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its adoption by the City Council and
approval by the Kayor.
