A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF FAIR ?ARK TO WAR MEL1ORIAL PARK ,
REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HERE`,?ITH AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS , The Arkansas State Fair is no longer held at the old
fair grounds in the City of Little Rock , and that the name of Fair
Park is a misnomer and should be changed , and
WHEREAS , The City of Little Rock is grateful for the actions of
its citizens w ho served in the armed forces , and is proud of the
unselfish devotion shown by them to their fellow countrymen , and
WHEREAS , the _people of Little Rock will never be able to
adequately show their gratitude to the citizens of Little Rock who
served in all tsars to protect the United States of America , for words
cannot express the fullness of the feeling which the people of Little
Rock have for the persons who have given their lives , limbs and time
that the rest may live and enjoy the American way of life , and
WHEREAS , in order th t the people of Little Rock and the future
generations of our City may be ever mindful of the sacrifices others
have made for their benefit , and in order that their daily activities
may not lead them to forget that our great country and the principles
for which it stands must be constantly guarded and protected by them
as it has been protected by those who have gone before , and in order
to express the gratitude of the people of Little Rock to the Citizens
of Little Rock who served in these treat conflicts it is thou Pub
fitting to change the name of Fair Park to "WAR LE :.OF=SAL PARK ," NOW,
THEREFORE ,
BE IR RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. - The name of the Fair Park is hereby changed and shall
henceforth be named and referred to as "WAR :EI OR_AL PARK. "
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City of Little Rock is hereby
authorized ara directed to arrange for an pporpriate ceremony to be
held at said park , and to cooperate with civic and veterans' organiza-
tions to the end of erecting an appropriate monument to the memory of
all the Citizens of Little Rock who served in all wars to protect this
country. Said monument to be located in the War Memorial Park.

SECTION 3. All resolutions , ordinances or parts thee°eof in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this resolution str11
be in full force and effect f rom and. after its adoption.
