RESOLUTION NO. 1768
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 1760
ADOPTED AND APPROVED ON THE 11TH DAY OF AUGUST,
1947.
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore determined that
approximately 11.25 acres of Fair Park was not needed for park
purposes, and that the extent of Fair Park should be changed by
conveying the said 11.25 acres to the Stadium Commis ion of
Arkansas, for use as a stadium site; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution Number 1747, adopted and approved
May 19, 1947, the City Council authorized the conveyance of said
property, particularly described in said resolution, to the
Stadium Commission of Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution Number 1760, entitled TTA Resolution
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to Execute an Easement Deed
on Behalf of the City of Little Rock to the Stadium Commission
Providing for the Use of Certain Parcels of Land Within Fair Park
for Parking Sites in Connection with the War Memorial Stadium;
Declaring an Emergency; and for Other Purposes", adopted and approved
on the 11th day of August, 1947, a conveyance to the Stadium
Comiission by easement deed was authorized for the purpose of pro-
viding parking sites in connection with the War Memorial Stadium; and
WHEREAS, there are errors in the description of the lands
authorized to be conveyed for parking sites, and it is necessary
to amend said Resolution Number 1760;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, that Section I of said Resolution
Number 1760 be, and it is hereby, amended to read as follows:
SECTION I. That the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are
hereby authorized to execute to the Stadium Commission an easement
deed providing for the use of certain parcels of land within Fair
Park, or so much thereof as has not been previously authorized to
be conveyed as the actual site for a stadium, for parking sites, in
consideration of the construction of a stadium and parking sites
within such areas at the expense of the Commission and in considera-
tion of the use of such parking sites by the people of Little Rock
in connection with their utilization of other park and recreational
facilities within Fair Park, said parcels being as follows:
Parcel #1 in Section 6, T-1-N, R-12-W, in Little Rock,
Pulaski County, Arkansas, more particularly described as:
Beginning at the northeast corner SW NE4, Section
6, T-1-N, R-12-W; thence N 87° 40' W 418.3 feet to
a point; thence S 00° 09' W 1885.6 feet to a point;
thence N 88° 17' W 203 feet to the point of beginning;
thence S 1° 341 W 367 feet to a point on the north
edge of the public road; thence in a northwesterly
direction along the northwesterly edge of said public
road 533.33 feet to a point; thence south 88° 17'
east 311.7 feet to the point of beginning, containing
2.039 acres, more or less .

SECTION II. It is ascertained and declared by the City Council
that the City of Little Rock lacks sufficient recreational facili-
ties for its inhabitants, and that the recreation they would derive
from the Stadium herein referred to would be conducive to the peace
and health of its inhabitants; that the Stadium Coamission has
selected the City of Little hock as the site for the proposed Stadium;
that before the Commission can commence work upon the Stadium it will
be necessary for the city to furnish an area adjacent to the Stadium
sufficient for the parking of automobiles of the people attending
and taking part in athletic events at the Stadium; and that the
correction of the erroneous descriptions in Resolution No. 1760 is

immediately necessary in order that the construction of the Stadium
may be commenced at the earliest possible date.
It is, therefore, declared that an emergency exists, that
this resolution is necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety, and that this resolution shall
take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
