1747 RESOLUTION NO. 1747 A R: SOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A DEED FOR CERTAIN LANDS IN FAIR PARK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A STADIUM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. XIMMANIXXXXIXMANNIX WHEREAS Act 249 of the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas for the year 1947 provides for the construction of a stadium for the use of the various schools, colleges and universities in the State, to be known as the War Memorial Stadium; and WHEREAS said Act provides for the selection of a Commission authorized, among other things, to select a site in the State of Arkansas for said stadium; and WHEREAS Paragraph I, Section 4, of said Act provides that the site selected for the stadium must be furnished free of cost to said Commission; and WHEREAS the City of Little Rock, by reason of its central location, is conveniently accessible to all the people of Arkansas ; and WHEREAS the City of Little Rock owns in fee the lands in Fair Park, a portion of said lands being now little used and which said portion naturally lends itself to the construction of a stadium; and WHEREAS the construction of a stadium in Little Rock would be a great benefit to the City of Little Rock and all of the people in Arkansas : NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas : Section I. That the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to execute a deed to the stadium commission con- veying to said commission for the purpose and in consideration of the erection of a stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas, the following described lands located in the SW*, SE*, Sec. 6, Ti N, Range 12 W, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas: Starting at the northeast corner of SW4 NE*, Section 6, T-1-N, R-12-W; thence south 502 feet to a point; thence N 83° 00' W 423 feet to the point of beginning which is the northeast corner of the tract herein described; thence continuing N 83° 00' W 700 feet to the northwest corner of said tract; thence S 7° 001 W 700 feet to the -2- southwest corner of said tract; thence S 83° 00' E 700 feet to the southeast corner of said tract; thence N 7° 00' E 700 feet to the point of beginning, containing 11.25 acres more or less. Section II. This resolution being necessary for the preser- vation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage.
