A RESOLUTION AGREEING TO ACCEPT AND t2AIvTAIN A PUBLIC PARK FOR
NEGROES.
WHEREAS, THERE IS A GREAT NEED FOR A NEGRO PARK AND PLAYGROUND
WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AND
RECOGNIZING THIS NEED, THE LITTLE ROCK CLERGY COMu:ITTEE
ON NEGRO PARKS IS FORAULATINGPLANS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A NEGRO PARK AND PLAYGROUND INCLUDING
FACILITIES SUCH AS A SWIING POOL, FIELD HOUSE AND
PLAY EQUIPMENT, TO GIVE TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
AND
WHEREAS, IT IS DESIRABLE THAT THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK ACCEPT THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF UTAINTAINING AND DIRECTING A PROGRAM
ON THE ABOVE AREA AS A PART OF THE MUNICIPAL PARKS AND'°
RECREATION DEPARTMENT,
NOW, THEREFORE,
bE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Little Rock will accept, main- --1
tain and direct a wholesome recreation program for negroes on the
park planned by the Little Rock Clergy Committee on Negro Parks when
the property with improvements is deeded to the City of Little Rock
for such purposes.
SECTION 2. That the above mentioned park and playground
will be under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Department
of the City of Little Rock and shall be conducted as a public park
for negroes. Any equipment installed in the park snail become the
property of the City of Little Rock and any equipment placed on
said property shall be approved ay the Parks and Recreation Depart-
ment before the installation of such.
