1731 RESOLUTION NO. 1731 A RESOLUTION SETTING ASIDE A C RTAIA PORTION OF FAIR PARK OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS FOR A FLAY GROUND AND RECREATION CENTER FOR A PERIOD OF 15 YEARS. WHEREAS, THERE IS A GREAT NEED FOR A PLAY GROUND AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES IN FAIR PARK OF THE ^,ITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AND RECOGNIZING THIS NEED, THE FAIR PARK PLAY GROUND ASSOC- IATION HAS BEEN ORGANIZED BY INTERESTED, CIVIC MINDED PERSONS IN THE CITY 07 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, CONSISTING MOSTLY OF P 'HS.NS WHO ARE RESIDENTS OF THE VICINITY OF THE NORTH PART OF FAIR PARK, AND WHEREAS, THE F_'.TR PARK PL"_Y GROUND ASSOCIATION HAS RAISED A CON- SIDERABLE SUM OF MONEY BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION TO BE USED IN EQUIPPING THE PLA`' GROUND IN SAID P'RK, AND SUCH ASSOCIATION HAS PERMANENT PLANS FOR CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT AND FINANCING SAID PLAY GROUND, AND WHEREAS, RECOGNIZING THE NEED FOR SUCH A PLAY GROUND AND ACCEPTING THE HELP AND ASSISTANCE OF THE FAIR PARK PLAY GROUND ASSOCIATION, IT IS DESIRABLE THAT A CERTAIN PORTION OF FAIR PARK BE SET ASIDE FOR A PLAY GROUND TO BE EQUIPPED AT THE ESPENSE OF THE FAIR PARK LAY GROUND ASSOCIATION, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COTSNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the part of Fair Park bounded by West Markham Street on the north, Eonroe Street cn the East, Van Buren Street on the West and south to the top of the first rise bounding the old race track approximately 491 feet on Monroe and running oblique to 191 feet on Van Buren be set aside for - period of 15 years for a playground and recreation center for all of the citizens of the City of Little Rock, provided, however, that in the event a stadium is erected or constructed near the above described plot that that part of the above described property south of the rock drainage ditch will be relinquished if necessary for the actual con- struction of the stadium. SECTION 2. The above designated playground will be under the supervision of the Park and Recreation Commission of the City of Little Rock, and shall be conducted as a city park. Any equip- ment installed by the Fair Park Play Ground Association or any other association in said playground shall become the property of the City of Little Rock, and any equipment installed or placed in said play- ground shall be inspected and approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission before the =_nstallati on of such. r -2- SECTION 3.
