1712 RESOLUTION NO. 1712.
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A SPECIAL COMMITTEE
TO CONFER WITH OFFICIALS OF CAPITOL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY CON-
CERNING THE REVISION OF ALL PRESENT LINES AND THE TYPE OF EQUIP-
MENTTO BE USED.
WHEREAS it has come to the attention of various city
officials that in the near future the Capitol Transportation
Company proposes to eliminate streetcars and install trackless
trolleys, and-
WHEREAS many cities in the United States have found that
the use of trackless trolleys for public transportation is un-
satisfactory, inasmuch as the overhead wires necessary to pro-
vide the electricity for such vehicles are objectionable, and
such methods of providing transportation are obsolete, and
WHEREAS overhead wires used to provide power for such
transportation fix the routes of the trackless trolleys and
make it more difficult to change various routes established in
order to meet the needs of the public in the future years as
the City grows and expands, and
WHEREAS at the present time all the routes and runs set
up have become obsolescent and there is a great need for an
over-all revision, expansion and extention of all the present
lines, now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0_ F LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS :
That the Mayor appoint a special committee of the Council
and charge said committee with the duty of conferring with offi-
cials of the Capitol Transportation Company and other interested
parties concerning the revision and expansion of all present
routes of the transportation system and to study the feasibility
of the installation of trackless trolleys or gasoline driven
vehicles over all of the routes to be established.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That such special committee, after making a thorough
study of the situation and conditions and after holding such
public hearings as it may deem necessary, shall report its
findings to the Council, together with its recommendations
at a date not later than forty-five (45) days after the pas-
sage of this resolution.
