Whereas, a large portion of the City of Little Rock in

and imperil the usefulness of the Airport, and
Whereas, the Municipal Airport should be available at all times
if it is to be of maximum usefulness, and
Whereas , A city of the size and dignity of Little Rock, Arkansas,
should not allow any portion of its area to be subjected to overflow
when such can be prevented, Now Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby respectfully requested to appoint a
Committee of Aldermen and citizens, not to exceed a total number of seven
persons, which Committee shall] meet with County officials and others
interested in construction of the levee . The Committee so appointed
shall have authority to take options on the land necessary for the
right of way for a levee to be constructed in the east end of the
City of Little hock to secure the east side of Little Rock and adjacent
portions of Pulaski County from flood waters of the Arkansas River.
The options so taken shall be reported to the Little Rock City Council,
which shall then authorize or refuse to authorize the purchase of said
right of way. The Committee shall apportion between the City of Little
Rock and other interested governmental agencies the cost of the
acquisition of the right of way. Any expense incurred by the Committee
in the reasonable discharge of the duties outlined above shall be
repaid by the City of Little Rock out of appropriate funds.
Section 2. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon
its passage.
