1593 RESOLUTION NO. 1593
'A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS TO REQUEST A GRANT
FROM THE PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT OF A PUBLIC
HEALTH BUILDING FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK.
Whereas, considerable expansion of the personnel of the Little Rock
Health Department has been made necessary in the interest of national defense
because of the proximity of Camp Robinson, Adams Field, and the proposed de-
fense industries to be established at Jacksonville and Marche; and
Whereas, the need for increase public health clinical facilities has been
increased enormously by,=the increase in resident and transient civilian and
military population in this defense area; and
Whereas, the present quarters of the Little Rock Health Department are
inadequate to properly house the staff and provide ample clinic space;
Therefore, be it resolved that the City Council of Little Rock authorize
and request the Mayor and the Board of Public Affairs to make application to
the Public Works Administration for a grant to be used for the construction of
a Public Health Clinic Building in the City of Little Rock.
