1448 RES OLUTI ON NO. 1448 WHEREAS, the gasoline tax has been levied on motor vehicle owners for 17 years for their use of improved highways and streets; and WHEREAS, surveys of the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads have indicated that streets of municipalities bear 30% of the total vehicular traffic ; and WHEREAS, municipal streets, therefore, have actually earned 30% of the gasoline tax receipts, none of which have been used to maintain city streets; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R SOT T'D that we, the City Council of Little Rock, Arkansas in expressing the sentiments of the motor vehicle owners and citizens of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, do hereby memoralize Governor Carl E. Bailey and the members of the General zssembly to remedy this unfair distribution of the gasoline tax receipts by returning a reasonable share of the gasoline tax for the improvement and maintenance of their streets.
